Paper Capacity Development in Higher Education

College as a medium to transform knowledge and skills is an instrumental part on Indonesian educational development. It has a long history for educational engagement. This study explores how tourism college deal with personal development approaches to integrate with intercultural, regional society and international interaction.

In addition, it will give an example of activities that were designed not only to develop the students' skills of tourism knowledge but also to raise awareness of their cross cultural understanding and of how this relates to their skill of tourism area. On the other hand, to promote a discovery approach to cross cultural, many activities were designed, so that students can experience dealing with multicultural activities.

The study was conducted at The Tourism College of Fajar in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Both interview and non-participant observation were applied to collect data. Using theoretical sampling data collective, this study occupies grounded theory analysis. The finding indicated that it is vital for understanding intercultural and cross cultural values and belief and curriculum content learning in specific contexts, which in turn can be fed into wider discussions on pedagogy and policy in introducing multicultural practices to education. Through practical training in industries involvement is one way to increase awareness among students of the possibilities to learn about and practice cross cultural understanding skills. Previously, practical training has not been recognized as bearing on the educational activities issues that often characterize the college. Recently however, the college was observed has used the cultural perspective and tourism industries influences on curriculum policy.
